Cookies Policy
The short version: one piece of essential storage so the cookie notice stays dismissed once you’ve closed it. No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, nothing following you around the web.
- No advertising cookies
- No cross-site tracking
- No third-party scripts
- Essential storage only
What this page covers
This policy is published by Car Buyer Scotland and covers cookies and similar technologies — including browser localStorage — on this website. We’ve kept the list short because we’ve kept the storage short.
Everything this site stores
This is the complete list — if it’s not in this table, this site doesn’t set it.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| cbs_cookie_ok | localStorage (essential) | Remembers that you pressed “Got it” on the cookie notice so it doesn’t reappear on every page | Until you clear your browser data — it’s only set after you dismiss the notice |
| wordpress_* | Cookies (staff only) | Let our own team log in to manage the site — ordinary visitors are never given these | Session, or up to 14 days with “remember me” |
What we deliberately don’t use
Advertising cookies
We don’t run ads and we don’t let ad networks set anything here. You won’t see our cars follow you around the internet.
Social media pixels
No Facebook pixel, no TikTok tag, no share-button trackers. Social platforms learn nothing from your visit to this site.
Analytics & profiling
No analytics scripts run on this site today, and there’s no fingerprinting or session recording. If that ever changes, we’ll ask first and update this page.
Third parties
This site loads no third-party scripts, embeds or fonts — the styling and code are served from this website. The only time data leaves it is when you submit the quote form, which is covered by our privacy policy.
If you block storage
The site works fine with cookies and localStorage blocked — you can browse, get an offer and book an uplift as normal. The only difference: the cookie notice may greet you on every visit, because there’s nowhere to remember that you dismissed it.
Clearing or blocking storage in your browser
Chrome (computer or Android)
Open Settings, then Privacy and security, then Delete browsing data — tick "Cookies and other site data" and confirm. To block storage for this site only, use the padlock/tune icon in the address bar and turn cookies off for the site.
Safari (Mac, iPhone or iPad)
On a Mac: Safari menu, Settings, Privacy, Manage Website Data. On iPhone or iPad: the Settings app, Apps, Safari, then Clear History and Website Data. Safari blocks most cross-site tracking by default — which suits this site fine, as we do none.
Firefox
Open Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under "Cookies and Site Data" choose Clear Data, or use Manage Data to remove just this site. Firefox's strict tracking protection changes nothing here — there are no trackers to block.
Microsoft Edge
Open Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then "Manage and delete cookies and site data". You can clear everything, or add this site to the block list — the quote form will still work.
