What free scrap car uplift actually covers

Free should mean free. There is no recovery surcharge, no admin fee and no diesel levy quietly knocked off the figure when the driver arrives anywhere on the mainland. The amount agreed against your registration is the amount paid on collection.

The one honest exception is the islands and the most remote Highland glens. A scheduled run to those areas can carry a travel adjustment, and if it does we agree it with you up front when you book — never sprung on you at the roadside.

We collect non-runners and immobile cars

The car does not need to start, drive, steer or hold air in its tyres. Our recovery equipment is built for non-runners that have not moved in years — flat batteries, seized engines, no keys, parked nose-in against a wall.

Tell us roughly where it sits and how accessible it is when you book, and we bring the right kit. A car on a flat driveway, one in a shared back court and one half off a single-track road all need slightly different handling, and knowing in advance keeps the slot smooth.

How a collection slot works

Once you accept the written offer, you tell us what suits and we fit the uplift around you. The slot is confirmed on WhatsApp, like everything else — no call centre chasing you, no driver phoning to renegotiate on the way.

You do not strictly have to be there if access is sorted and the paperwork is arranged in advance, though most people prefer to hand the car over in person. Either way the payment clears by bank transfer at collection, not days later.

Removal, recycling and the paperwork after pick-up

Collection is only half of it. The car is taken to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility in the Caledonian Autosalvage group, where it is depolluted and recycled properly as an end-of-life vehicle rather than dumped or stripped in a layby.

We notify the DVLA that the vehicle has gone for destruction and you receive a Certificate of Destruction confirming it. From the day of uplift the car stops being your responsibility — no liability, no parking notices in your name — and there is a little to sort once the car has gone, from the road tax refund to cancelling the insurance.

We cover the whole of Scotland, from the Borders up through the Central Belt to the Highlands. Mainland uplift is genuinely free and usually arranged quickly once you accept an offer.

Island and far-north collections run on scheduled rounds rather than same-day everywhere, simply because of ferries and distance. We will be straight with you about the next available run and any travel adjustment before you commit.
